We bring to you a sneak peek into our world of exquisite embroideries and weaves:
- Kashida/Aari Embroidery: this stitch originated as a darn stitch. It is a simple running stitch which gives a woven effect. The artisans adept at this work create concentric rings of chain stitch using a special hooked needle. It also draws inspiration from the subtle colours of the landscape of the land and the varied natural beauty. Motifs of Persian style, birds, flowers and shrubs are its prominent features.
- Sozni Embroidery: This form of Kashmiri embroidery is known for its skilled execution of a simple stitch. The intimate links between nature, history and the culture of Kashmir reflects in this embroidery. The blend of vibrant colours using patterns of flowers and leaves makes this form of embroidery a spellbinding concoction
- Jamawar Weave: It is a creation of those craftsmen who led a harmonious life of their skills and nature. With keen observation, they gave the world this beautiful weave in which one finds floral and paisley motifs. A jamawar shawl can be worn both ways due to its finesse and the deft use of thread. The colours used are mostly bright. It was a prized possession of the royalties and nobles.
- Kani Weave: Known to be a product of Kanihama district of Kashmir, Kani is a famous hand weave. Each colour is woven separately in a precise pattern. The shades captured in it are from the colours of the flawless beauty of the valley. This is an incredibly time-consuming process which results in the high value of these shawls.
