The ‘wool’ family includes different kinds of knits and fibers, viz. cashmere, mohair, merino, etc. So, before you make your purchase, let’s take you on a small learning tour into this warm and cozy world!

We all know that wool comes from sheep. However, different kinds of sheep have a variety of wool covering them.

As we can derive from the name itself, this virgin wool is sheared from the lamb when it is just a few months old. This wool is extremely soft, smooth and supple. It is quite expensive due to its rarity as it can only be procured once in the lifetime of a sheep.

It is one of the finest qualities of wool available. It is procured from merino sheep, which are known to be the toughest as they survive the sweltering summers and freezing winters of New Zealand’s Southern Alps range. Their fleece is engineered to protect against extreme temperatures. It keeps you warm during winters and cool when the mercury is soaring! So, you can wear it around the year. The yarn is breathable and lightweight. Its delicate fibers are less prone to pilling and shrinkage.

Often accredited as the most luxurious in its segment, it is light and durable. Its fiber is obtained from Kashmir ( the northernmost geographical region of India) goat. It is exceptionally soft and insulates the body from the chill. It is the fine undercoat fibers produced by the cashmere goat. However, due to its rarity and more requirement of fiber for making a product, it is more expensive. 

It is a lustrous fiber which is made from the hair of the Angora goat. These strands are moisture-wicking and good insulators. It has its own sheen which makes the fabric look more attractive and pleasant to the eyes.
